Carnelian

Carnelian can range in colour from red to orange and the colour is caused by iron oxide. Carnelian is a type of chalcedony and is usually solid in colour, however it can have a banded appearance and then it would be classed as an agate. Both chalcedony & agate belong to the Quartz mineral family.

Carnelian is usually associated with the sacral chakra, although it also has qualities which work well with the base and solar plexus.

Carnelian helps with strength, courage and confidence and is particularly good to help women find their inner power. It helps with motivation and restoring vitality in life along with helping to build passion and power.

Carnelian brings a feeling of warmth and joy. It encourages passion and when used on the sacral chakra, it can help with sexual passion within a relationship and is said to be good for fertility. Carnelian is also known to help with detoxing from alcohol or drugs.

Carnelian is good for singers and performers as it boosts confidence and helps when performing on stage (Adele is known to carry carnelian, along with other crystals). It is also good for many other professions which are required to have motivation, creativity and stamina.

From crystalvaults.com;

Carnelian stimulates the sacral chakra…. Gut feelings, intuition, and other "non-linear" communication comes from this chakra. When it is out of balance the symptoms will manifest themselves as confusion, over dependency on others, repression of feelings, inability to feel joy, fear of sensuality or sex, and frustration. When it is in balance you have grace, feel pleasure in life, find you are flexible and can "go with the flow" and do so in good spirit.

Robert Simmons;

Carrying carnelian can awaken the vital energies of the three lower chakras, increasing zest for living and the willingness to take the risks inherent in all strong actions.

My experience of living with Carnelian;

I can remember quite clearly that when I worked with Carnelian 3 years ago, I had a lot of motivation and female power. I live on my own and needed to build a retaining wall in my garden, so I did it myself. I constructed a dry stone wall, never having done it before and was very proud of it. It was probably not up to the standard of a professional, but it is still standing today.

My experience of living with Carnelian this week has been totally different, as it has been more about balancing my emotional wellbeing. I have done a lot of meditation and self-healing using the carnelian and this has given me strength and helped to clear my sacral chakra of some old energy that no longer serves. I feel empowered to have recognised what I needed to work on and proud of myself for having cleared it.
